Expand Your Meta Feeds by Merging Shopify Images and Videos with Metafields

Combine media from Shopify and metafields in your Meta (Facebook & Instagram) feeds. With new merge options - replace, append, or prepend - you can expand product images, videos, or internal labels without overwriting existing data.

In your Meta (Facebook and Instagram) product feed, fields such as images, videos, and internal labels can be populated from Shopify, metafields, or both.

By default, Shopify syncs a limited set of images and videos. Flexify’s merge settings let you add more by using metafields - while keeping existing Shopify content intact. This way, you control whether metafield values replace, append, or prepend what’s already in your feed.

Supported Attributes & Default Behavior #

This setting is available for the following attributes:

  • videoReplace (default)
  • additional_image_linkReplace (default)
  • internal_labelAppend (default)

You can choose to:

  • Replace the existing Shopify values (only for your Meta feeds)
  • Append to them
  • Prepend before them

This gives you more control and flexibility - for example, to include influencer shots, seasonal labels, or campaign videos - without removing what’s already synced from Shopify.

Common Use Cases #

1. Add Product Videos Without Overwriting Shopify Content #

If you already sync videos to Meta via Shopify’s native Facebook and Instagram (app) sales channel, you can now add new ones via Flexify without replacing the originals.

✅ Example: You want to keep the first 1,000 videos synced through Shopify but use Flexify to add new ones dynamically.
➡ Set the video metafield to Append in your mapping rules.

2. Combine Lifestyle and Product Images #

Use metafields to control how extra imagery appears alongside your Shopify product photos.

✅ Example: You want to show a lifestyle image first, followed by your existing product shots.
➡ Set additional_image_link to Prepend.

✅ Example: You want to add influencer images after your standard product images.
➡ Set additional_image_link to Append.

3. Refine Internal Labels for Campaign Targeting #

Add additional internal labels to support ad segmentation or custom sets - while keeping your existing tags and collections intact.

✅ Example: You want to add “autumn-launch” to products already tagged with internal labels based on tags or collections.
➡ Use internal_label metafield with Append (default), or Prepend if preferred.

How to Configure #

  1. Go to the Flexify App Settings page
  2. Open the Metafields Mapping section in the Catalog fields Settings page
  3. Cick on the Manage button
  4. Locate the attribute you want to configure (video, additional_image_link, or internal_label)
  5. Select the merge method: Replace, Append, or Prepend
  6. Save your changes

Things to Keep in Mind #

  • These merge settings apply only to your Meta feeds.
  • They do not affect Shopify product pages.
  • Meta’s feed system treats each source (Shopify, Flexify, etc.) separately. If you’re using multiple data sources, you can manage their priority in Meta’s Configure Sources settings.
  • Make sure your final values stay within Meta’s limits for each attribute (e.g. max video count, image limits, etc.).
